Electric Zoo Festival

electric-zoo-festivalIf you’re in New York City over Labor Day Weekend (August 29-31, 2014) and you’re into electronic dance music, well, then you’re in luck. That’s because that’s exactly when the Electric Zoo Festival is getting underway for the fifth consecutive year. Taking place on scenic Randall’s Island, which is situated on the East River between the South Bronx, Astoria, Queens and East Harlem, the 3-day festival covers all the electronic music bases. Four stages will feature a fantastic array of DJs and performers from around the globe and around the neighborhood. This year’s eclectic Electric Zoo lineup includes Benny Benassi, Candyland, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hot Since 82, Henry Fong, Ookay, Bonobo, Mat Zo, Nicole Moudaber, Milo & Otis, Otto Knows, Nervo, Laidback Luke, Felix Cartel, Sasha, Fehrplay and Paul van Dyk.
In 2009, the first year of the Electric Zoo Festival, there were 26,000 diehard fans in attendance for the one-day event. Artists on the bill ranged from Deadmau5 and Ferry Corsten to David Guetta and Armin van Buuren. Because of the incredible demand, the festival grew to three days two years later in 2011. That year, attendance reached 85,000 people. Acclaim for Electric Zoo has been strong. From 2010 to 2013, the festival received nominations for Best Music Event from the International Dance Music Awards. What’s more, the event has not gone unnoticed by the press. Top media outlets such as The New York Times, Village Voice, CNN and Huffington Post have provided serious coverage. More details can be found online at www.timeout.com/newyork/electric-zoo-festival.
