It wouldn’t be summer in New York City without the Fun in the Sun Summer Concert Series presented every Friday by ABC’s “Good Morning America,†which features Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Lara Spencer, Amy Robach and Ginger Zee. All of these much-anticipated concerts take place live at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park during the airing of the popular morning show from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time). This is the sixth year for the concert series, which is open to the public and is free to attend. To be a part of the audience, you’ll need to show up at the 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue entrance to Central Park at 6:00 a.m., the time that the park opens. If you happen to come by Friday, July 11, you’ll want to make sure to bring your cowboy hat and boots. That’s because you’ll be serenaded by the dulcet tones of country mega-star Keith Urban. What makes this weekly summer event so much fun is the variety. The “Good Morning America†producers go out of their way to really mix it up with a cross-section of major recording artists. Taking the stage the last two weeks in July are the rollicking rockers Kings of Leon and the singular DJ Zedd. Come August, audiences will be treated to even more country courtesy of Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan and Florida Georgia Line. Rounding out the well-rounded line-up are pop star Robin Thicke and international sensation Enrique Iglesias.
