Museum of Modern Art - New York Masterpieces

Spanning a massive 630,000 sq ft. of dynamically designed space, the Manhattan museum affectionately known as MoMA houses what's considered by many to be the largest collection of modern masterworks in the world. In total, their collection features more than 150,000 pieces, including Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night, Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans, and The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali. Best of all, our Museum of Modern Art hotel's just a short walk or cab ride away from it all!

  • Is there anything I should know before I visit?

Absolutely. First and foremost, leave whatever bags at the hotel that you can. Items larger than 11x15x5 inches, whether purses or backpacks, must be checked, thus delaying your entrance. For the shortest wait, the best time to arrive is around 11:30am. Flash photography is prohibited, and videotaping is only allowed in the lobby. Outside food and drink are prohibited as well.
  • What's the history of MoMA?

The Museum of Modern Art dates back to 1929, when a large contingency of trustees and patrons of the arts dared to establish a modern alternative to the conservative collections at the time. In its first 10 years, the museum moved to larger locations 3 times, until ending up in the midtown building it now calls home. Since then it has undergone numerous renovations, most notably when it was largely rebuilt between 2002-2004, and the Cullman Education and Research Facility was added.
